
Deep
in the Monroe County woods, fading like an old memory, lie the homes of our
ancestors. Is that the wind in the trees or ghosts of children's
laughter ringing in the woods ? Laughter long dead and turned to dust; soon
to be joined by the houses in which they lived. This site is dedicated to
those ancestors - who they were, who they loved, some of their sorrows and
some of their joys.
In seeking and finding them, we find ourselves.
Easter Valley is a
real place that lies along the Bartahachee River in Eastern Monroe County,
Mississippi. In the 1830's a group of families moved into that valley
along the old Trace Road where they settled, farmed, lived, loved, died, and
were buried. This site documents what is known of those families and
their descendants. It is intended to be a living site - constantly
changing. Additions or corrections of information are welcomed by the
author.
