Her married name was Jones.1 Not long after her marriage to Charley Jones, he was late coming in from the fields for dinner. Molly went looking for him and found him lying in a corn field, mortally wounded by a kick from the mule he was using to plow the field. Molly mourned him for the rest of her life. She never remarried though, as evidenced by her attached picture, she was a lovely woman and had many would-be suitors.. Instead, she loved everyone in Easter Valley. She became "Aunt Molly" to everyone. It was Aunt Molly who came to sit with the sick, to prepare the dead for burial, and to attend the birthings. And when everyone else was too busy, it was Aunt Molly who would find a piece of string and stick which, with a bent pin, would become a terrific fishing pole in the little stream near her home for a very young boy visiting from Alabama. I never forgot her kindness in that and many other things. Wayne E. Easter.

HISTORY NOTES ON NANNIE (GERTRUDE) EASTER Obituary Notice " Onward goes the relentless march of death. The heavy hand of the Reaper has fallen hard. Another home is enveloped by shadows. It's curtains are close drawn; even the birds soften their song. The death of Miss Gertrude Easter, March 9, 1949, marks the passing of a splendid pioneer citizen. Gertrude was the daughter of the late Monroe and Malinda Easter. Surviving relatives are: her sister, Mrs. D.R. Boone, five brothers, A.G., G.C., J.R., R.L., and Ollie. Also many nieces and nephews. Gertrude endeared herself to all who knew her; a person with a gracious manner; always a gentle word to say; some kindly deed to do; all characteristic of a lovely personality - dedicating her life in service to others; putting herself in the background and someone else to the fore. Such souls forever live in boundless measure of the love they give. Funeral services were held in the Easter home in Aberdeen March 11 with Rev. C.L. Rodgers, Methodist Pastor in charge, assisted by Rev. C.E. Pickens and Rev. W.F. Garner of Sardis. She was laid to rest in Aberdeen cemetery. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Gertrude leaves a rich heritage in character; a strong witness for a beautiful, pure, and simple life. A good woman has gone, but her memory lingers as a gentle benediction."
