Prominant Guntown Citizen Dies in Baldwyn Clinic; Rites at Home Today

C.M. Gordon, prominant Lee County resident, know as Charlie Gordon throughout this territiory, died yesterday morning at 8:00 o'clock in the Baldwyn Clinic, to which he was taken Monday afternoon. The 76 year old citizen of Guntown had been critically ill with heart trouble for two weeks, but he had appeared to be slightly better late Monday.

Mr. Gordon, who spent most of his life near Guntown, was a farmer for many years. Recently he had curtailed his agricultural activities to truck farming. He was a member of the Guntown Board of Aldermen for a number of years and served in that capacity up until his death.

He leaves his wife, Mrs Lena Stokes Gordon, a sister of Dr. H.A. Stokes of Guntown; one brother, Chalmers Gordon of Tyler, Texas; two half-brothers, D. L. Gordon of Texarkana, Texas; and Rex Gordon of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two half-sisters, Mrs Clark Lyon of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and Miss Ruth Gordon of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

The funeral will be held at 11 o'clock this morning at the Gordon residence with burial at the Cambletown Cemetery near Guntown. The Rev. John S. Crenshaw of Tupelo will conduct the service assisted by the Rev. M. F. Harmon. pastor of the Christian Church at Baldwyn; the Rev. L. P. Jumper, Paster of Guntown Methodist Church; and the Rev. H. G. West, Pastor of the Ecru Baptist Church.
