     HISTORY NOTES FOR ERMA ELAINE EASTER As a child, I never heard the name of Erma Easter spoken. It was only after I was grown that I learned that she had lived, that she was the twin sister of Burma Easter, and that she had committed suicide at the age of 28. Community lore, related to me in 1993 by a lady who lived near Ira Easter's family and who knew them well, held that Erma was in love with a young man in the Quincy District. On a hot day in June 1936, the young man was to stop by the Easter farm for a visit. When he arrived, he informed her that he was going to marry another young woman who, apparently, he had placed a family way. Shortly after he left, Erma shot herself with Ira's shotgun.

Booker, on 6 December 1883 at Monroe County, Mississippi.² Frances Elizabeth "Frank" Easter died on 25 June 1943 at Monroe County, Mississippi, at age 88. She was buried on 27 June 1943 at Main Easter Cemetery, Greenwood Springs, Monroe County, Mississippi.
     Frances Easter first married James Edge. From this marriage came a child, Leitha May Edge, who later married William Ira Easter, paternal grandfather of Wayne Edward Easter. In her second marriage to Joseph S. Blair, Frances gave birth to Houston Blair. Houston Blair married Mavis Gordon, sister of Wesley Gordon, maternal grandfather of Wayne Edward Easter. Thus through Frances Easter, both the paternal and maternal lineage of Wayne Easter and his descendants find a common link. As of 23 December 1874,her married name was Edge.¹ She appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 in the household of Alson E. Easter and Amanda Maud Neeland at Sup Dist 1, Enumeration District 126, Quincy Township, Monroe County, Mississippi.³ As of 6 December 1883,her married name was Blair.²

Her husband left Memphis rather than take the oath of allegiance, they traveled up here is a barouche & without a servant (not allowed to bring anything but their clothes), to nurse her babe. She wasn't well before she started and I suppose the fatigue of the trip caused her death." I think the death should be August 11, 1862 rather than 1861. Her stone may say 1861 but the circumstances of her death says that is too early. It had to be later in the war. No need to worry about it but I wanted you to know since you are keeper of all things.² She was buried circa August 1863 at Champion Easter Cemetery, Limestone County, Alabama.
